Shunyuan Mao
I am a Cosmic AI Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, based in Charlottesville, Virginia. My research sits at the intersection of astronomy, scientific machine learning, and radio interferometry.
I develop physics-informed and operator-learning methods for astrophysical fluid dynamics, with a particular interest in planet formation and protoplanetary disks. I am also interested in applying artificial intelligence to radio astronomy.
Before joining NRAO, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Rice University and Los Alamos National Laboratory. I received my Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Victoria in 2024.
